Taiwan Applicant Criteria

With the support of Taiwanese child welfare foundations: New Hope Social Welfare Foundation, Chung Yi Social Welfare Foundation, and Cathwel Services, Gladney is able to work with families interested in adopting from Taiwan.  Each child welfare foundation has specific adoptive parent criteria:

New Hope Social Welfare Foundation

Families should be open to a child of either gender, 0-18 months at the time of referral.  Most children referred will be 6-12 months in age.
·         Parents must be between the ages of 30 and 48.
·         Parent’s Combined Annual Income must be at least $80,000.
·         Parent’s must own a home.
·         Parents must be healthy with a standard BMI.
·         Both parents must have attended a college with at least one parent having a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
·         Parents must have no more than 2 children in the family.
·         Couples must be married at least 5 years.
·         Each parent can have no more than one previous marriage.
·         Parents must have no criminal history.

Chung Yi Social Welfare Foundation

At this time, Gladney’s Chung Yi program is primarily open to families interested in adopting younger children with special needs or children over the age of 5 years.
·         Couples must be married at least 2 years.
·         Each parent can have no more than one previous marriage.
·         Parents ages 25-50 can adopt an older child.
·         Parent’s minimum income is $80,000.
·         Parents must have no more than 3 children in the family.
·         Parents must be healthy or have only minor health concerns.

Cathwel Services

At this time, the Cathwel program is primarily open to families interested in adopting children with special needs or children over the age of 5 years.
·         Couples must be married at least 5 years.
·         Each parent can have no more than 1 previous marriage, for a combined total of 2 divorces per family.
·         Parents must be at least 20 years older than the child.
·         Parents must have no more than 1 child to adopt a healthy infant.
·         Parents must be healthy or have only minor health concerns.
·         Parent’s Combined Annual Income must be at least $80,000.

All families will be considered on a case by case basis.
